Materuni waterfall and coffee tour

Walk to an 80-metre waterfall on Kilimanjaro's slopes and roast your own coffee with a Chagga family.

Explore what moves you

Experience it your way.

From Moshi, a short drive takes you to Materuni village on the lower slopes of Kilimanjaro. A local guide leads you through banana and coffee plots to a waterfall about 80 metres high, where you can swim in the cool pool on a warm day.

Back in the village, a Chagga family shows you how coffee is picked, peeled, roasted over a fire and ground by hand — often to a traditional song — and you drink the result. A home-cooked lunch can be added.

What to look forward to

  • Guided walk through farms to the waterfall
  • Hand-roast and grind your own coffee
  • Swim in the waterfall pool
  • Optional local lunch
